2011 Wedding Trends

1.     Vintage Touches

The timeless look of vintage and retro-inspired décor and details are timeless for a reason, they keep on coming back!  What’s old always looks new and beautiful and can be incorporated into so many details of your wedding from a vintage dress with cap sleeves, beautiful textures and colors in vintage finds such as vases, furniture, and décor, to ornate details found in your choice of venue too.  Vintage just doesn’t stop there!  You can create the look and feel of a vintage photobooth with draped backdrops, and even hire a videographer who can film in 8mm!

2.     Eco-Friendly Weddings

With so many of us being considerate of the environment in our attempts to go green, this certainly is being shown in today’s weddings as well.  You can be green just by buying a used wedding dress, using LED lights, using recycled paper for your invitations and programs, and even buy using food from local farms and providers.  Many couples these days are also doing charity donations instead of giving out favors and saving paper by sending out digital save the dates invitations!

3.     Modern Choices

While you can go vintage in some areas, modern and contemporary choices are big and bold in 2011!  We see many couples going for non-traditional elements such as one-shoulder wedding dresses, to short cocktail dresses, and even dresses that have a hint of color too!  Modern choices can also be seen in décor as well, such as using square and rectangular tables instead of your traditional round tables, to incorporating hip and lush lounge furniture around your dance floor.  Don’t be afraid to play with color as well, allowing bright hues to really reflect your personality and style.

With winter fading away, comes more sunshine and spring weather, which is what inspired this color palette for brides getting married anytime between spring up to summer!  The cool blue and green, complemented with the neutral khaki is clean, effortless, and very modern.  You can incorporate the muted khaki into gorgeous linen runners and table cloths, as well as bridesmaids dresses, allowing blue and green florals to add that beautiful pop of color.  What a perfect palette for spring!

We are so excited today to feature one of our fabulous vendors, Alison Franchi, and her company, Le Petit Gardenia Inc.  Owner and founder of Le Petit Gardenia Inc., Alison Franchi, has been creating and experimenting in floral design at an early  age, and continues to fascinate and come up with fresh and innovative designs using the beauty of florals.  Her talent and inspiration shows through all of her designs and her professional nature is what makes us proud to have her be a preferred vendor on our list!

 

Alison recently paired with fellow artist Jennifer Aspinall to celebrate an evening of "Living Art" where art literally came to life as models were beautifully painted and decorated with beautiful flowers, turning them into walking and breathing masterpieces.  Check out some of the gorgeous and creative artpieces below!
