{ Xochitl + Ian :: Vibiana, July 16, 2011 }

So excited to feature another Fresh Events Company event that took place at the Vibiana in Downtown Los Angeles, one of our all time favorite venues, and for good reason!  A gorgeous event space with high ceilings, white pillars, beautiful dark wood floors, and an outside garden perfect for a beautiful ceremony or an exciting cocktail hour filled with lounge areas and a Mariachi band, just like our client's Xochitl and Ian did!

Taking advantage of all of the gorgeous natural lighting during the daytime, we opted for a simple and clean ceremony inside the Main Hall, followed by a Mexican inspired cocktail hour filled with colorful Mexican sarapes, lavender infused drinks, Mariachi Band, and amazing food.  We had an hour to flip the entire inside space for the reception, where we brought in punches of lavender and touches of red, creating an icy yet romantic feel to the gorgeous wedding cake down to the sleek white dance floor.

Small Cameras for Big Personalities!!

One of our favorite photographers is hosting this complimentary photography class. Take advantage of it if you love taking photos. Have Aaron from FotoNuova teach you some tricks to impress your family and friends later :)

"Ahh the point and shoot camera! We all own these little point and shoot cameras but very few folks use them to their full potential. Those little compact darlings that are capable of sometimes producing horror and other times absolute beauty.

We buy them with the intention to capture the memories of our lives. The intention to capture our kids growing from year to year. The intention of documenting our family vacations and reunions. What often happens is we end up with a series of photos that leave much to be desired.

Now, how would you like to impress Grandma and Grandpa with beautiful photos of your little bambinos taken by your little point and shoot camera? How would you like to be the envy of all your friends and family for creating such wonderful photos of your kids with your little camera? How would you like to be the absolute superstar of your Facebook network with all of those amazing images of their kids? Is that something you might be interested in?

You are in luck! FotoNuova is hosting a point and shoot workshop: "Small Cameras for Big Personalities!"

You will be exploring and learning just a few simple picture taking principals that will enhance your images considerably! Some tips you will learn will be:

-How to best compose photographs of your kids to make them far more interesting!
-What kind of light to avoid when photographing your children or family
-The most user friendly software to enhance your photos and remove the dull image quality that digital cameras produce
-Where to have high quality prints made to preserve your precious memories
And more.. "

{ Diana + Enoch :: Pasadena Convention Center, May 29, 2011 }

Getting that e-mail or phone call from a photographer telling us that photos are finally published and ready to view is one of the best feelings in the world!  We had the pleasure of working with Enoch and Diana for their classic and romantic wedding that took place on May 29, 2011.  They had a simple and beautiful ceremony at the Oneonta Church in Pasadena with their reception being held at the modern and contemporary Pasadena Convention Center.  Soft hues of lavender, creams, and flowing white drapes helped create this classic and clean look.

Wedding Featured on StyleMePretty!

Ever wonder what a wedding planner's wedding is like? One of our very own wedding planner is now married and her wedding is featured on StyleMePretty! Congratulations AMANDA+KELLY!!

"For most girls, planning a wedding is a once in a lifetime affair, but for a professional wedding planner it’s something that they do frequently. So after producing so many weddings and seen it all, what is a wedding planner’s wedding like? I would like you to meet me and my now husband Kelly. We have been dating for five years and decided to tie the knot this May. Our wedding day started out with the traditional tea ceremony which at first I was dreading because it meant I had to wake up early. However, I am so glad that I did it! I loved the infusion of East meets West. Started out at the bride’s house and then the groom’s house to pay respect to the parents, delicious tea and lots of lotus seeds and dates soup (symbolizing kids! yes, our parents were making sure we had lots!) There were lots of laughter, hugs, tears and as my photographer said, “full of emotions and she got lots of pictures!” We were surrounded by all the people we cherish starting from the morning. What a great way to kick off the wedding.

I knew right away that I wanted a color palette that was vibrant and fun. What better colors then gold and fuchsia! I have always been a fan of pink and fuchsia is just the vibrant version of pink. Since my husband is a huge USC fan he gets gold, so we ended up with gold and fuchsia. We wanted the wedding to be modern and fun and Westin Pasadena fit perfectly into that. I am always telling my client, incorporate your interest, hobbies, personality into your wedding. You want your guests to arrive and know immediately they are at the right place. So true to my own words.. that is what I did. Its no secret that I love champagne so I had a friend help me collect champagne toppers and boxes. And yes, we helped too by drinking some champagne. If only all wedding tasks were that fun. We succeeded in collecting 170+ champagne toppers and various champagne and wine boxes to help us set the tone for our escort card display. And Kelly loves to play scrabble. I remember at one point in our relationship on date night we wanted to just stay home and play scrabble with each other. I also love anything round. So throughout the wedding, you will find all things CIRCULAR! From ceremony decor to floral vases. The ceremony was simple and adorn with cherry blossom trees. Its one of my favorite plus its good luck for romance. For reception, I went with the warm feel and splashes of champagne bubble on the wall (yes, that champagne thing just keeps surfacing!) The layout is mix of long banquet tables with round tables, white seamless dance floor with the amazing decal splashed on the floor, and of course a cabana lounge set so while some guests are dancing the night away, others can talk the night away.

The candy station was filled with my favorite candies (some from Asia and other for local stores). Candy quotes such as “If you get melted chocolate all over your hands, you’re eating it too slowly. ” ~Author Unknown. And of course no wedding is complete without a mojito bar! Throughout the night, we also had a photobooth contest for most original to funniest photos. Kelly is known to be a photobooth lover. Pretty much at all the other weddings we attend, if I can’t find him, he is in the photobooth! For our own wedding, I seriously considered getting two photobooths. One for him and one for the guests. We are both superfans of our respective schools, BU and USC so we made photobooth props to show our love! Ultimately, it was a spectacular wedding. I hope all brides and my clients have as much fun as my husband and I had. The day goes by fast, enjoy every moment!"

{ Janet + Jeff :: Terranea Resort Wedding }

The day was perfect for a beachfront wedding ceremony. The view of Terranea’s Resort private beach in Rancho Palos Verdes was gorgeous. The string quartet played while guest mingled and waited for their favorite couple Janet and Jeff. The purple, pink, and white floral arrangement looked beautiful against the green backdrop of the grass and white chairs. Guests from the hotel stood on the sidelines and were amazed at the beauty of the ceremony.

After the ceremony concluded, guest were escorted to the cocktail area where they were able to see thee magnificent scenic view and the view was accompanied by whales as well. Guests were greeted with cocktails and Petite Beef Kabobs, Smoked Salmon and Herbed Crème Fraiche Atop a Bilini. Yum!

The reception was held in the The Terranea Resort's Marineland Ballroom. The ballroom was transformed with full floral centerpieces, ranging from tall glamorous vase arrangements and low full floral arrangements. There was beaming blush pink up lighting and Cherry blossoms projections that were sprung against the sidewalls. Guest enjoyed the classic white photo booth complete with props and even a station to decorate their pictures; scrap book style! Guest were thrilled to see an elaborate candy station from American favorites Whoopers, Gummy Bears, Green Apple Jelly Beans, and Milk Nouget imported from China and of course much more sweet tooth favorites! The couple shared a documentary of how they met and their engagement story, leaving the guests with laughter and tears of joy. The dance floor was filled with everyone moving and grooving to the DJ’s assorted play list. Hope you enjoyed reading this as much as we enjoyed planning this wedding.
