{ Lauren + Ryu :: Langham Huntington Wedding }
This gorgeous wedding was captured by Kari Kochar Photography. Kari and I work together quite frequently at the Langham Huntington. Its always so much fun working with her and seeing the end results.
Vendor Spotlight::: DeBois Entertainment
Over the years we have the pleasure of working with many talented entertainment companies. I am excited to share one of our favorites- DeBois Entertainment. Their bands have such fantastic energy, when they are present, the crowd is engaged. My clients are always more than thrilled with this company. And put a cherry on top, they are so pleasant to work with and professional too. For their band, they have a designated person who is a MC, which is great for the announcements that you will need to make to welcome your guests and major moments to be announced.

You can listen to some of their wedding bands. But they are even better LIVE!

Rainy Weddings
With all this rain pouring in Southern California, I couldn't help but wonder how many couples had gotten married over the weekend in the rain, which many find to be unfortunate, while many others think otherwise.
There is an old saying that rain on your wedding day is actually a lucky omen, and with some tips and backup plans, you can still enjoy your perfect wedding day in beautiful and refreshing way!
When planning to have an outdoor wedding in the winter and spring seasons, you should always have a contingency plan no matter what. You can start early by checking an almanac or researching online when the driest times of year are in your area. If you have a tent outside, consider renting a floor, to prevent guests from waking into a muddy reception area.
If getting married indoors, the rain becomes more of an annoyance than a real problem. Have plenty of golf umbrellas readily available for guests, family, and bridal party, to shuttle back and forth outside. Last but not least, if it does end up raining on your wedding day, the best thing to do is grin and accept it and really try to not let it ruin your day. After all, some of the most beautiful photos and moments come from singing, dancing, and playing in the rain!

A Chalkboard Wedding!
Chalkboards are an adorable and unique way to add personal detail to your wedding! They can be tied in with your invitations, all the way to placecards, table settings, table numbers, and of course, a number of signs and messages that can be placed all throughout your wedding!
Using them in photobooths for guests to write their own personal messages to the bride and groom are also another fun and popular way to incorporate the look. Chalkboards are relatively inexpensive as well and can be found in craft stores, thrift stores, and even antique shops. You can also make a fun do-it-yourself project by taking gorgeous antique frames and putting chalkboard sheets in them for some beautiful one-of-a-kind signs!

{ Beauty tip for your big day }
- Beauty Touchup Kit -
Wedding days are filled with surprises and some are not so good surprises. That is why every bride should pack an emergency kit for surprise pantyhose holes, loose curls, chipped nails, and Aunt Betty’s makeup that rubbed off on your cheek! Include items like tissues, lipstick, nail polish, bobby pins, dental floss, toothpaste, a hair brush, deodorant, eye drops, and all the makeup that you put on in the morning so you can refresh your look for photos.
- Don’t try Anything New -
Trying a new facial cream, mask, makeup, or acne treatment too close to your wedding day may make your skin break out in a rash. If you want to try a new product on your face start at least six months before the day of your wedding and consult a dermatologist if you don’t already have one.
No new hair style -
Do not try out any new hair colors or cuts in the months leading up to the wedding, You don’t want to try something different and trendy and then hate it leaving you no time to grow it out. Stick to what you know suits you. Also going for the most up to date styles isn’t recommended you don’t want to look back on your photos in ten years time explaining to your kids how it was fashionable at the time.
- Leave the Blemish Be -
If you have a problem pimple a few days before the wedding or even the night before leave it be. Trying to pop it may make it even worse. I know that to be true for myself when I try to get rid of some; They get bigger and leave a red mark on my face.

CAPE Soiree Honors Asians in Entertainment
Fresh Events with actor and honoree, Ken Jeong.
Last week, Fresh Events Company had the privilege of working with CAPE (Coalition of Asian Pacifics in Entertainment) to help put together their yearly CAPE Soiree held at the beautiful Vibiana, honoring exceptional individuals who continue to contribute and enrich the entertainment industry. This year, CAPE's honorees included actor Ken Jeong and President of CBS Entertainment, Nina Tassler.
The event was a glamorous red carpet affair filled with Hollywood celebrities, fabulous awards, live entertainment, cocktails, casino tables, and contemporary eats from restaurants all over Los Angeles. Fresh Events decided to bring a modern flair to the event by setting up VIP lounge areas for the major sponsors who were able to dine on sushi and drinks while enjoying the awards ceremony in white plush leather sofas. The evening continued with a fabulous silent auction to help raise money for the organization as well as a photobooth, Pinkberry yogurt, casino, and more!

Things to Consider for Your Wedding
It's definitely a reality that most brides have to deal with a budget for their wedding nowadays. The most important thing to remember is to focus on YOU, the bride and groom, and what's important to you so you can efficiently spend the right amount of money in the right places, regardless of what friends or family may tell you!
Less is definitely more, whether this means simplifying your floral arrangements to cut costs (after all, flowers don't last forever!), or hiring a DJ versus a band. While bands are delightful, they can cost up to $10,000 and a great DJ can keep the crowd up on their feet all night!
Pictures are another important area to consider. If having tangible memories of the day are very important to you, then don't leave your choice of photographer until the last minute. Booking your photographer a year or more in advance means you'll have a better chance that they'll be available on your wedding, and you'll lock them in at their current rates.
We hope these small tips will be of great help in the coordinating and planning of the biggest day of your life!
Farewell to Fall!
Can you believe it's already December? As we say farewell to fall we here at Fresh Events are reminded of the fresh new ideas we put into our design and decor, like the one pictured here! We look forward to all of the wonderful holidays coming up and the things around us that inspire our ideas for events. To get a look like above, simply fill glass vases with colored rocks or stones to anchor the manzanita branches, from where you can hang beautiful jewels, tags, and other fun items.
Happy Fall!
